Thirteen years of service as a Residence Hall Director (5), Director of Student Activities
and Koehneke Community Center were challenging and highly educational. Mr. Libka coordinated numerous onference programs of all sizes, international conventions, an annual juried art show for thousands and major concerts for up to 3,200 participants on the Concordia campus.
These represented a professional challenge to deliver quality service. It also provided an opportunity to generate significant additional revenue for the university while creating visibility for the college. Mr. Libka enjoyed training university student staff in marketing, accounting, strategic planning and time management. The student provided a remarkable service to the university and its visitors.
While on the Concordia staff Mr. Libka was elected to several state, regional and national association boards, culminating in service on the National Association for Campus Activities Board of Directors. Prior to the availability of PC and internet technology Mr. Libka conducted a comprehensive evaluation of a 3,000 delegate national convention. This included evaluations of each workshop, showcased entertainment and overall conference evaluation utilizing SPSS and custom printed scan tron forms.
He coordinated membership development increasing the NACA members from approximately 900 universities to 1200 in a single year. The Wall Street Journal quoted Mr. Libka, regarding his view on civic responsiblity and a participatory democracy, concepts he discussed with prominent entertainer Harry Chapin, Ralph Nader and others. Mr. Libka presented workshops across the country at NACA conventions. In one convention for the Association of College Unions - International Mr. Libka's three workshops all made the best four of the conference, based on participant evaluations.
